composition and coding

working to your style and quality standards

Composition at The Sheridan Press can be defined by accuracy, attention to detail, and strict adherence to your journal’s layout, style guidelines and schedule. Allowing Sheridan to compose your work means putting your valuable content in trusted hands. When we compose your articles, we concurrently prepare your images for print production and also create the electronic files you require for your online journal initiatives and archiving, such as SGML, HTML, XML, PDF, PostScript files, and all major image formats. When scanning your images, we adhere to rigorous quality control standards as well as to your authors’ subjective quality comments. In order to ensure that the author-supplied images we receive are prepared to a print quality level, we offer easy-to-follow digital file submission guidelines as a proactive step to educate authors on file submission. All image files we receive are run through our Digital Expert image pre-flighting application to ensure that they are usable for print in your journal. We utilize e-Proofs to expedite the article acceptance-to-print process. Authors receive an e-mail containing a secure FTP link to their PDF page proofs. They may respond via FAX, or place “e-post-it” comments within the electronic file and send the file back to us. This results in significant time and mailing savings.
